Thoughts & Inspiration

This morning was our last shot at getting Mzungu home on this trip.  We came up empty handed.  The US Embassy made it very clear that until the adoption is finalized they would not issue Mzungu a visa to enter the US.  We are all very sad at this result, BUT everyone’s spirits were high during our last few hours together.  Mzungu and I spent a lot of time laughing together and playing in the grass.  Kathryn took many photos and we all shared the joy of Christ!  For there was much to be joyful about:
  • We are now Mzungu’s legal guardians…this will help us with the adoption process greatly!
  • We now have a judge who is fighting for us in the Kenyan gov’t.
  • We have hired a lawyer that will take us through the process…who just happens to be a trusted friend of the judge.
  • We have established a wonderful relationship with Mzungu…he now feels comfortable around us and left us laughing and smiling.

  • We both are so much more appreciative of the relationship we have with our other children.  No one can keep us from them…we have unlimited access to them…we have a trusting relationship with them…

  • We gained and/or strengthened some wonderful friendships with fellow believers…our driver, George, drove 20 km to the hotel today just to check on us…Pam drove into the city to do the same.  They all have prayed with us, cried with us, laughed with us…we are so very blessed.

  • Philip and Dorcus are going back to Kisii with our son and will take wonderful care of him until our return.

Please continue to pray for us through this process.  We are planning on returning in Nov/Dec of this year to finalize everything…this will require finances that we don’t have and time off from work that we were not planning on.  God is in control and I personally have learned to depend on Him more now than ever before.
Thank you for your prayers.

  1. Sad to hear this. It’s great what you’re doing. This adoption process is linked to the heart of God.

  2. My heart aches with yours for your son. I know the passionate desire to have him with you and have no recourse but to wait. The Father’s plan is always perfect and right on time. I am praying with you and for you guys as you travel back and continue the preparations for your son to join you 24/7. May our Father pour out upon you the blessings of His grace and the peace that comes from the Spirit who is working in us and around us to bring about the perfect will of the Father!

  3. Thomi and Kathryn,

I can’t imagine how hard this must be. I’m glad that it is drawing you closer to God and teaching you how to depend on him.

    I’ll be praying for you.
