My name is Thomi Wilson and my family and I serve the Lord through Adventures In Missions in Mexico at our Base (The Gateway or “El Portal”). My wife, Kathryn and I are teachers by trade.

We have been working with AIM for 12 years. First as volunteer staff during the summers and as of 2000 we have been full-time. Currently Kathryn is teaching public school in La Feria, TX.  Three of our children, Layton (14), Keighan (9) and Liam (7) are attending public school in La Feria.  Ian (13) is taking courses online and Lillian (3), our youngest, stays with the bases’ head cook, Patti, during the day.  The children are definitely an intricate part of our ministry. We take them everywhere we can. Although we have been to such places as Venezuela, Jamaica, Mexico, Romania, Moldova, Dominican Republic, The Amazon Jungle, Florida and Philly, our focus has been constant. We have been called to equip others to become radically committed followers of Christ.

First about my wife:
I, Kathryn, met the Lord at summer camp when I was 12. But it wasn’t until Thomi and I were married that I began a walk with Jesus. Walking with Him has changed my life in so many ways. He really can transform you. I love to read the Word and learn new things about my Lord. Teaching is my passion and when I teach, I learn. My interests range from reading and collecting children’s books to taking pictures, hiking and running. I was born in Texas and moved around as a child while my father was in the Army. I graduated from Angelo State University with a B.S. in Education and Corpus Christi State with a M.S. in Counseling. I love to laugh. I taught 3rd grade for 13 years. After our fifth year of home schooling, Thomi and I decided that I would return to teaching in the public school setting. I am also discipling some of the ladies in our community as well as an some of the staff at the base..

Some of our biggest blessings have been to see our three oldest children, Layton, Ian and Keighan accept Christ as their personal Savior and teaching them about quiet times and reading the Word. Keighan is our oldest daughter. She is in love with her Papa and her boys. She is a great little traveler and loves people. Liam is our youngest son. He is very animated at times and just plain loveable. He has started to pray out loud. He too loves people. Lillian is a dynamo filled with smiles and kisses.  Mzungu is a young boy in Kenya that I met the last time I served over there and we are currently in the process of adopting him.  We are all very excited about the addition of our fourth son.

As for me:
I accepted Christ when I was in third grade. Even then I somehow knew that God wanted me to be involved in Missions. He has gifted me in the area of teaching. This is where my truest sense of God’s will is. I was raised in a Christian home and sat under some amazing men of God who took the time to disciple me. My walk with my Lord has deepened exponentially when Kathryn and I were married on Feb. 11, 1994. I graduated from Atlanta Christian College in 1998 and then taught 2nd grade for two years before accepting the call to fulltime ministry. My interests are backpacking, canoeing, working with wood and cooking. I have rock climbed, been skydiving, and bridge jumping. I spent five years as a wilderness counselor. My passion is training, equipping and discipling those who wish to serve our Lord Christ Jesus.

As of May 2005, we have been serving in Mexico at our base (The Gateway). For better and for worse I serve as the Base Director. This position is filled with opportunities for growth.
