I have put this off long enough and have finally decided to not only begin this transition but to embrace it. I am referring to “blogging.” I am not sure I can even tell you what blogs realy are, but by golly, here it goes…
On this first attempt, I’d like to simply write about what’s on my heart. This past summer my role as the base director changed quite a bit. I was transformed from simply being the guy who fixed things and gave everyone their needed funds to a dicipler of our staff. It was awesome to see God take the least of these (i.e. me) and use me for such an important task. To see these college students and recent college grads be used by God and to be blessed to be able to mentor them through the process was a huge blessing. I know we say that a lot “…a huge blessing”, yet isn’t that part of what God does as our loving Father? I know for me as a father, I absolutely love being able to bless my children. To see their eyes light up when I got them just the right gift, or said just the right words of encouragement, gave them the hug they needed at just the right time, etc. Surely if this brings joy to a mere human being…how much more joy will our heavenly Father experiene when he blesses us and we recognize the blessing as just that…a blessing form Him?
I have never experienced Christian Community like I did this past summer. God brought a group of about 20 very different people together and turned them into one “body” seeking only to serve. That service took on a myriad of forms, but they all had the aroma of Christ all over them. Some were gifted leaders, some were musicians, some were teachers, while others were prayer warriors…to name just a few. ALL, however, were obvious servants of the God Most High.
Anyway, God continues to bless us and I will continue w/ this blogging.
